Five For Fighting: 100 Years. And could this song BE anymore overplayed?
Avril Lavigne: I'm With You.
Mariah Carey: Anything by Mariah Carey, I'm not choosy.
Luther Vandross: Sorry, but it's elevator music. All of it.
Richard Marx: Remember this guy from the 1980s? His most recent claim to fame was writing a song for Luther Vandross.
Kenny Chesney: All his new stuff sounds like the Muzak version of Jimmy Buffet.
Michael McDonald: Makes me want to vomit every time I hear his voice, even on a commercial. Ick ick ick.
Kenny Loggins: Ditto Michael McDonald, but I do confess that his song about Winnie the Pooh is a pretty good one. Although for the best rock and roll lullaby ever, you'll want to check out the Dixie Chicks' "Godspeed."
Actually, anything they play on the Adult Contemporary radio stations.
And anything they play on the "smooth" or "lite" jazz stations.
This is the sort of music that gives me a raging migraine.
Feel free to add your own selections!

Jesus, I hate Michael McDonald with every fiber of my being. Okay, not him as a person, but his music---triple blech. Especially the Motown covers he did last year or the year before.
I don't listen to the radio at all anymore, so I'm trying to think...
Mine:
Smokey Robinson: As much as I like him, his music is ALWAYS being played on elevators or in dentist's offices.
Lionel Richie: Same. 'Easy', anyone?
Hmmm...I'm stumped. I shall return with more...
Ah, elevators: could ride 'em all day... ;->
Oh crap! I forgot "Drops of Jupiter" and "Calling All Angels" by that crap band Train and "With Arms Wide Open" by Creed. As my co-worker Patrick once said, "Creed and Train deserve each other in Hell."
I also must mention my most hated band of all time, The Goo Goo Dolls. I cannot express how much I hate the Goo Goo Dolls. Seriously, how many times could the incredibly bad song "Iris" be played on the radio. Another elevator song, definitely.
I can't tell you how pleased I am to hear you say you loathe the Goo Goo Dolls. What is UP with that band?? They are soooo not cool; so NOT rock and roll; so BORRRRRRing. "Iris" is like the sort of song I'd probably get stuck in hell for eternity with, just because I hate it so.
Amen to "Easy." That one often seems to crop up during my dentist appointment. Odd, isn't it?
And Train and Creed... well, Patrick is correct.
Dion Warwick and Basia. I always hear the elevator versions in the grocery store... Then I'm humming "Do You know the Way to San Jose" for the rest of the day......
Oh good, now I've got that one stuck in my head... hehe... Seriously though, was there ever a song more tailored to the Muzak format than "Do You Know the Way to San Jose"?? Other than Madonna's "Take A Bow," that is.
oh, and all of kenny g. barf
